Ashley Greene wants “Twilight” fans to know that filming of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” is “moving forward,” despite cast and crew having to be evacuated on March 11, 2011, due to a tsunami warning. On March 14, 2011, I sat down with Greene (who plays vampire Alice Cullen in the “Twilight” series) for an interview at the New York City press junket for her movie “Skateland,” a coming-of-age drama that takes place in 1983. (“Skateland” is set for a U.S. release on May 13, 2011.)
Greene gave me an update on what’s been going on with “Breaking Dawn” since filming of the two-part movie was temporarily interrupted. She also voiced her concerns and condolences for Japan, which has experienced massive devastation as a result of the earthquake and tsunami that struck on March 11.
Here is what Greene said about the whole situation and how she is dealing with the fame that has come her way because of the “Twilight” series. The rest of the interview will be published in May, the week that “Skateland” hits U.S. theaters. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1″ is set for release on November 18, 2011. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2″ is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 16, 2012.
The after-effects of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan temporarily halted filming of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” in Canada’s Vancouver area. What’s the latest update on the filming?
Everything kind of got turned upside down and inside out. We got the least of the brunt of things. We have to be thankful for that. But really, it’s more about that we had to pick up and move to a different location and switch scenes around, but we are certainly moving forward and carrying on. It’s not really going to affect the film too harshly.
Do you have any comment on the disasters that have hit Japan?
I’ve certainly voiced my opinion — as have a lot of my other friends — about raising money for Japan and being with them and praying for them, because I think it’s something unpredictable and horrible and unexpected and really unfortunate and heartbreaking. I certainly send out my prayers and my thoughts to the people and to their loved ones and lost ones. And hopefully, we as Americans are going to do everything we can to help them rebuild.

Several castmembers from the Twilight Saga have been nominated in the 2011 Flecking Awards, a new voter-based awards group brought forth by Flecking Records.
The Twilight cast nominations in question are as follows:
- Best Actor: Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner
- Best Actress: Kristen Stewart
- Best Film: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
- Most Stylish Male: Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner
- Best Hair Do: Robert Pattinson
- Sexiest Male: Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner
- Sexiest Vampire: Robert Pattinson, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli, and Charlie Bewley
There are also a couple of Twilight series musicians up for these awards, and voting is open until March 30th.

Jackson Rathbone (“Jasper Hale” in the Twilight Saga) has been doing a lot of press lately, which is a great thing of course, and the latest interview comes from Lite Rock 99.3 from Brevard. Through the discussion, Rathbone issued a few updates about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
“It’s been a fun shoot so far. We’re about halfway through the process . . . It was a lovely time being in Baton Rouge,” he explained, gushing about his good luck in having family in the area to provide him delicious home-cooked meals on his off-time.
He also talked about the progression of the Twilight films in quality over the course of the Saga.
“I think each film just keeps getting better and better, you know, with the different slate of directors we’ve had, and now we have the amazing Bill Condon, and he’s been a dream to work with. So, I think this is going to be the best one,” he said. “There’s some very exciting moments in the film that Melissa Rosenberg our amazing screenwriter and Bill Condon, our wonderful director, kind of put together to kind of showcase the highlights of this film and to bring the book to life.”
As for doing his own stunts in Breaking Dawn, as he does in most of his movies, he explained that he did so even with a broken rib. Apparently, he was carrying “a bunch of gear” while working with his band, 100 Monkeys, and he tripped on some wires and cracked his rib, but he kept it a secret from the crew so as to still be able to do the stunt-work for the film. “It was painful, but it was worth it.”

I had the pleasure of meeting Writer/Director/ Producer, Justin Lerner at this past year’s Toronto International Film Festival when he took his film GIRLFRIEND starring Twilight’s Jackson Rathbone, Raising Hope’s Shannon Woodward and the extremely talented actor Evan Snieder, who has made his first starring role in a feature length movie, to the festival in September 2010.
When I returned from Tiff there were plenty of movies that came home with me, for a short time. GIRLFRIEND was not one that stuck around for just a short time though. We are now in March, 2011 and it’s been six months since I last sat in the theater to see it.
This Quote from Jane Schoettle, programmer of Toronto International Film Festival sums it up for me and tons of others, “ GIRLFRIEND is warm, sharp, funny, complex… I saw it four months ago and it’s still under my skin.”
